When it comes to deciding what to write on your Invitation, there are questions you first need to ask yourself, regarding the formality of the invitation and who you are inviting. What mood do you want to set?
Two rules apply when constructing the wording for your Card or Invitation:
- Be Concise
- Do Not Abbreviate.
Below is a checklist of what to include on your Invitation:
- Purpose of the invitation, for example, Liam's Christening;
- Date and Time;
- Place and/or Address;
- RSVP details, including:
- When;
- Who they are to RSVP to;
- Phone Number;
- Email address.
Additional details that you may also wish to include on your Invitation are as follows:
- Your favourite verse or poem;
- Dress Code;
- What is included:
For example, A light lunch and drinks will be served or Beer and Wine will be served until 10pm;
- What your guests should bring:
For example, Swimmers, BYO Alcohol.
Other things that will effect the wording on your invitation is the following:
- Style of the Party:
Is it a casual gathering, for example a Kids Birthday Party or backyard party?
Is it a more formal affair, for example a Christening Invitation or Wedding Invitation?
- What mood do you want to set?
- Do you want to make your invitation personal?
If so, try to bring out some of your feelings and personality into the wording;
- Is the photo that you are including on the invitation particularly expressive?
If so, then
perhaps you can include wording that compliments the photo;
- Do not abbreviate Be concise.
