What? There is more to a camera than point and shoot? It’s easy to learn. In fact, to quote a cliché “It is as easy as ABC” (or 123). Well, maybe not that easy, but it sounds good doesn’t it?!
Happy reading and I hope you gain a new love for photography!
- Anticipate
To catch your child riding a bike or a wave, anticipate where they will be in the frame and pre focus your camera on this spot (i.e. press the shutter button halfway).
- Be Prepared
It takes time to turn the camera on, for it to focus, check the exposure and shoot. So, get the camera ready.
- Charge Your Batteries
Need I say more?! Have you considered a spare battery?
- Don’t leave home without your camera!
It costs nothing to be snap happy!
- Experiment
Don’t be afraid to play with the settings on your camera – you will be pleasantly surprised.
- Flash
Apart from using the flash at night, try using it to brighten up faces when they are in the shade or have shadows. Watch out for the double flash on the Red Eye setting! Night mode is great when you need just a touch of extra light.
- Go For It
- Hold Still
At low light steady yourself by leaning against something, use your timer or invest in a mini tripod. Holding your breath also helps.
- Image quality
Use the largest resolution. You get a better quality photo and can crop without losing too much of the image quality.
