Below are a selection of the tips from the articles above:

  • Digital cameras: Always take photos at the highest resolution setting your camera allows. The higher the image resolution, the better quality the photo will be once printed.
  • When taking a portrait, don't stand too close (i.e. less than 1 metre). Use your zoom. If you don't do this the face will be distorted.
  • Baby's hands and feet are beautiful. Include them in some of your photos. A hand near a face looks adorable.
  • Photos of a newborn less than two weeks old can tend to be a little red. Their skin will look a little more natural in photos taken after this time.
  • Photos taken without a flash using natural light, either outside or near a sunny window, are far less harsh. The skin tone will also look more natural.
  • Photos taken during sunset leave a warm glow.
  • A combination of close-ups and full body shots with different expressions and poses create interest and variety.
  • When taking photos of a person in scenery, place the person to one side and have them look into the photo. This will lead your eye into the photo.
